Where we meet

Gosford Anglican Church has two places of worship, both located at 3 Mann Street. Each service offers a slightly different style:

Main Church

Sunday morning service (informal and family-friendly)
Sundays at 9:30 am

This is our main weekly gathering. The service is informal, relaxed, and accessible to people of all ages. It includes Bible readings, prayer, a message, contemporary music, and Holy Communion (most weeks). There’s a warm community atmosphere, and we enjoy morning tea together afterwards.

St Mary’s Heritage Church

Saturday evening service (traditional and structured)
Saturdays at 6:00pm

Set in a beautiful sandstone building, this is a more traditional Anglican service with a formal structure and quiet reverence. Music is included occasionally. This setting is ideal if you appreciate a reflective, heritage-rich environment.

What to wear

There’s no dress code. Some come dressed in their Sunday best, while others wear jeans and a T-shirt. Whatever you’re wearing, you’ll be welcome.

What happens in the service?

You can expect a mix of:

  • Bible readings.
  • Prayer.
  • A short message or sermon.
  • Holy Communion (most weeks).
  • Occasionally, music or hymns.

At the main church, a screen will help you follow along, and there’s a printed sheet available for those who are unable to follow the screen. At St Mary’s, there is a service sheet that helps you follow along. It’s a more structured church service, but still welcoming. You’re free to observe or participate as you feel comfortable.

Will someone greet me?

Yes! A friendly member of our welcome team will be at the door to greet you, answer any questions, and help you find your way. You’re also welcome to stay for morning tea after the Sunday service to meet others in the community.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely. Children are welcome at all our services. The Sunday 9.30 am service in the main church is especially family-friendly, with activity packs and space for children to stay engaged. We do a children’s talk at this service.

On the first Sunday of every month, we run Messy Church – a relaxed, hands-on service for all ages. There’s always a theme to explore. One recent example was The Coming of the Light, which celebrates the day Christianity came to the Torres Strait. A member of our clergy shared a story connected to their own ancestors, and then we all got involved in craft activities based on the theme of light and hope.

People made words with Scrabble tiles, created simple artworks, and talked about what light means in their own lives. It’s a friendly, creative time where everyone can join in and connect – no matter your age or background.

Want to see what a service is like before you visit?

Here’s a short 5-minute video showing both of our churches and giving you a feel for what a typical service looks like. It’s a great way to see the spaces, the atmosphere, and how things usually run.

If you’d like to see more, you can also watch full recordings of recent services on our YouTube channel. These are usually from the Saturday evening service at St Mary’s.
